Sony developing video Ipod competitor

Another company is now trying the same things Apple has accomplished

Sony is working on a portable media player that will support video playback, Reuters is reporting today.

The announcement reportedly was made during a news conference in which Sony displayed the upcoming new music-only Walkman players. The vague confirmation came from Sony’s senior vice president, who claimed, "We are developing a product that handles images, but I cannot make any comment on specific plans."

Since the release of the Ipod Video players last year, portable media player hype has skyrocketed, with several unknown foreign companies taking their shot at PMP success, but it’s always been a David vs. Goliath battle with Apple. Now, however, the setting will be more like a clash of the titans, with Sony’s announced video player and Microsoft’s anticipated Zune, which debuts on 14 November, taking aim at the Ipod head-on.

Also during the news conference, Sony announced five new Walkman players for music playback that are "shaped like a perfume bottle," according to Reuters. All five are set to be available by the end of the year.

Based on some of Sony’s stuff that i have used, i dont think it will be much of a competitor to the iPod  but thats just my opinion

iPod Screen Saver
October 11, 2006

Video iPod

Want a fancy screen saver when your ipod is not in use? Here’s how:

1.) Create a new folder named Demo Mode on the iPod.
2.) In iTunes, rename any video file as Demo.

When your iPod is charging and left untouched for two minutes the movie you renamed “demo” will play and repeate. Just like a screen saver. Keep in mind that is for the 5th Gen. iPod only. The iPod must paused or not playing for this to work. You also need to have disk use enabled and must have the latest firmware. Have Fun!
